With the AI boom of recent years, many are surprised to learn that AI-driven cut grading began as early as 1992 with the introduction of Sarine’s DiaMension® - the first software to provide automated, computerized measurement of a diamond’s proportions.
Sarine went on to pioneer AI-based grading for both color and clarity in 2017, marking a major advancement in the diamond industry. The launch signaled a turning point, harnessing machine learning to deliver automatic, precise, and consistent color grading.
In 2022, a new chapter began with the introduction of the second generation of AI-based grading featuring the advanced, automated Sarine Color™ system -setting a new standard of precision and efficiency in diamond grading worldwide.
In addition, Sarine Color™ evaluates fluorescence intensity and tinge, allowing for greater refinement of the final color and delivering a more comprehensive assessment of each diamond.
Sarine Color™: Internal Color Grading
Until just a few years ago, color diamond grading could only be conducted in a specialized lab or manually by expert human graders. This approach is typically costly, unreliably consistent, and not very efficient.
All this changed with automated grading by Sarine. With Sarine Color™, diamond manufacturers and wholesalers are starting to implement color grading using technology and boosting the efficiency of their operations.
Furthermore, automated algorithms enhance the quality of grading, assuring better accuracy and consistency. Driven by machine learning, the grading results with Sarine Color™ will only improve over time. The algorithm learns and improves after it gets exposed to a certain amount of data. This is while making sure the grading standard is not affected by that action.
